Impact of IoT on Supply Chain Performance

Purpose: To increase the understanding of IoT by demonstrating its impacts and benefits on supply chain performance.
 Design/methodology/approach: System dynamic simulation modeling to estimate performance, based a previously proposed framework propositions.
 Findings: In general, results show positive impact activities where propositions targeted. Specifically:
 P2: better decision-making. – The study case shows asset utilization, reduced shipping time. However, transportation costs because lack decision-making system.
 P3: enhanced connectivity/collaboration/integration. that integration through demand planning can be obtained.
 P5: lead-time. Case time when location technology all technologies are combined.
 P6: utilization. higher utilization factor, hinting even without Research limitations/implications: models here presented merged data from different sources: Primary secondary sources, estimates assumptions. mere nature base-data limits precision results.
 Practical implications: implementation collection or transmission alone is not sufficient obtain full benefits. A processing system, integrates complete array appropriated technologies, should also implemented. This underlying concept contribution IoT.
